I'm planning what is (for me, anyway) a fairly ambitious entertainment center project. I wanted to bounce some ideas off knowledgable folks, specifically around DC power and relays. Some background -- I have around 20 consoles I'd like to incorporate into it. Interchangability isn't as much of an issue for me as expandability. I want to be able to (where it makes sense) have only the active console receive power. I'd like to avoid a rat nest of cabling, and I'd like to avoid using wall warts and power strips when possible. I have a lot of goals for this, but my specific question concerns powering the consoles. I plan to use an arduino mega, a PSU (laptop or desktop) and a bunch of relays to supply both AC and DC power where appropriate. For the DC lines, I plan to use fuses and voltage regulators to provide the proper voltage. Aside from issues involving wiring with the correct polarity, is there anything I should be worried about? Assuming I'm using a decent PSU, do I need to do anything with the DC lines to make sure I'm not going to hurt my consoles? I figure a fuse, voltage regulator and maybe some diodes for each console would be enough, but I don't know enough about this stuff to know for sure.
