I have had this lying around for years. Don't know where they come from but I think I got them from my dealer in Japan while importing loads of other stuff. The big stickers thing was given to people buying DC's on the release day, I think. Can anyone confirm? And does anyone know the story behind the sample cd covers? Ordinary store samples or what? Btw, one is for an unreleased game I think. Pictures: http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e204/axtelius/dc/ /frax
It's only a guess but weren't these placed shelves (in empty jewel cases) in order to let the customers see what he/she is preordering or to get a preview of upcoming releases?
I own a collection of ALL Japanese sample covers. Unreleased titles like Propeller Arena, Dee Dee Planet etc. are included. Don't know if these are worth anything, I just collected those for fun, but it opens up possibilities for scammers... The sample versions of Dreamcast titles in Japan, which is the original game (99% of the time without spinecard) for promotion/store display purposes, come with the same covers. I own all of those too, new & shrinkwrapped.
I'm not 100% sure, but aren't those the ones given away in stores during the promotional campaign when the DC price was reduced in summer 1999? Maybe someone here on the board knows better, otherwise I might check. ;-)
cool, it would be nice if you could post a complete list of all those sample disc releases (been looking for such a list for ages since i´m writing on a dc book (for ages aswell)) it would also be great if you could compare their bar codes with those of the regular retail versions at some time :love2:
They're covers used to copies given to stores. Not to be confused w/ pre-release covers which usually have some type of date on them... or at least was the case in the Saturn days. I have one for Monika no Shiro.
