Hey I just tried to go on dcemulation.com and I realised the site was now redirected to the blog of the original DCEmulation founder. SO I lurked around in google and I found that the real DCEmulation is now DCEmulation.org I don't really know why but on his blog, 007cheater says that it seems someone hi-jacked the site. Well, for thoses that would like to go on DCemulation I though it'd be good to know.

Feel free to post news if you know why it changed domain, or if you know the real story, i'm pretty interested.

    Sean is a child.

Over the years he has never been around the site, and all of his forum staff happily enjoys working on the site. Then, randomly he'll step in and having no clue about the scene at all, he makes demands and abuses the people who have worked hard on the staff. He hasn't been around much lately at all the last few years, most of the site's dedicated base have no idea who he even is, but within the last month he came back and wanted to put advertisements on the site (he pays $10/month for all of his web sites to be hosted and probably around $5-10 a year for the domain). He was told no, but he still persists. Now he's got this "midcore gaming review" blog called seanbajuice that's absolutely horrible (read any of those reviews...), and he wants more hits, so he took over the front page that we've all been working on, to put his gaming reviews and such on. When the staff backlashed, he banned BlueCrab, who is a prominent respected Dreamcast developer (Yabause DC Saturn emulator, CrabEmu SMS emulator, does work on KallistiOS dev environment, and more).

Sean doesn't own any of the actual content on the site, all the scripts are publicly available programs or stuff written by me, all the forum posts are owned by their posters, and everything on the wiki was submitted by community members. The only thing he actually owns is the domain name. So to protect the site the staff agreed to move it to a new server out of his reach to stop him from profiting from other people's work and discouraging users from Dreamcast development.

He wants to sue me. He's claiming I hacked his site and did hateful things to him. This is a lie, because 1) I didn't trespass anywhere, I had legitimate access to everything and 2) If I hated him, I could've deleted everything on all of his sites, which I had access to. I'm not concerned; this will all blow over.

The only thing we're concerned about at DCEmulation is how this will affect how people find the site. I would appreciate it if those who are into the scene would spread the word about the site URL change. It's important to keep the site still going and the homebrew scene still going.

Wow, now 007Cheater put back dcemulation.com online, so there's 2 dcemulation online now, dcemulation.com and dcemulation.org witht he same exact forums (.com and .org are different from now, tbut the older posts are the same) NOW THAT WILL BE CONFUSING AS HELL !

Imagine being a lil' n00b wanting to try boot dream and googling about it ?? :katamari::shrug::noooo:

I must admit that I can't blame darc for what he did! He's a well-known important figure in the dc-scene nowaday and he did way more for the dc-scene in the last years than 007, which almost nobody really heard of in the last years.

Seriously I hope 007 and darc will come to an agreement and that only one forum will be (hopefully whitout the pubs). It'd be way less confusing and less of a hassle for everybody.

Good Luck Darc I'm on your side dood !

It is incredibly confusing, but it was necessary to keep the site going. 007 doesn't care and never did care about the DC scene, he was always in it for the money. He used to purposely post fake news about emulators just to get people going to the site to make money off of the ads. He actually admitted to this once years ago when the entire staff shamed him in the private staff forum, but he doesn't admit anything like that now. You can ask anyone who was involved in the DC scene in the early years about 007, there's always some hilarious story about something stupid he did.

I would highly reccommend that you not discuss any of this until you have consulted a lawyer as you may be digging a hole for yourself.

It's always best to say NOTHING in a dispute that might result in
    litigation.

Other than that, best of luck.

Unfortunately, it's probably already too late for closed mouths; there was a breach of security and they already have statements I've said in private, though luckily nothing I said in private is any different than what I'm saying now in public. Unfortunately this breach of security also included flagrantly providing access to all private forums to all registered users of the site, which means that FTP passwords and other passwords were leaked to the public, as well as private code and internal software.

    Let's talk about professionalism !

Should I change my password on both "version" of dcemulation to avoid getting my account hijacked since both obviously have the same password ?

Yes, you should change your passwords on both sites to something unique. They don't have the users' passwords, but they do have a hash of the password, for whatever that's worth. I'm not going to say where because I don't want anyone to go looking for it, but somewhere in those private forums there was a password to another site where somewhere on that site you could see a list of that site's passwords in plain text (yes, I know, very stupid, the problem was rectified yes ago but there happened to be a backup on the server from the plain text days). I think that site's content has now changed because of the breach so it's not accessible anymore, but still, it's very, very bad.
