I was wondering what type of game/software you could run on a DDH system? Do you need to have game files compiled using the SDK or can you also run dumps of retail games or NR discs from its hard drive?
u ll have to decompile the .gcm file into the basics, transfer everything to the DDH's HDD (dvdroot//) and fire the correct .elf file I presume. (I say presume because I ve worked on GDEVs not DDH, where ODEMRUN is used to launch .elf files. DDH doesn't use an ODEM PCI card, but a MARLIN one..so not sure if the 'odemrun' application, intended for Optical Disk Emulation and .elf running, will be the same on DDH.) Considering that oldengineer has a DDH as his avatar, it's safe to assume that he knows quite alot about that beast (to actually love it enough as to include one as avatar ) Fred, I don't understand your 'love' for the DDH when the GDEV is so much more superior in setup (and function, considering how easily the DDH screws up vs. the videomode.elf PAL screw-up of the GDEV, it's only bug) Show's a truly hardcore man when it comes to his development tools ;p heh
Well it's OE's DDH i might want to acquire But i want to be able to run retail games on it... So thats why i want to know if its possible or not. Would be a shame if i can only run the builds that come on the HD on it.
if you *code* the proper executable (.elf) to turn .gcm files into their basic structure and then run.. or manually, using a gcm explorer (homebrew available), decompile the contents and hope for the best - i m not sure if there's an .elf file to run the game in commercial builds though.
