DDR mat (Konami RU041) missing wire?

Recently got a DDR mat off eBay and to my dismay it seemed to be DOA. When i took it apart though, something seemed to be missing:

As you can see there is a hole above the L2 label and it seems as if a wire is meant to be there. On the other side of the board:

The hole is covered by hot glue. I tested and power is getting to the board itself but when I try to touch a wire between the metal circles and ground no button inputs go to the PS2.
