I have a DECR-1000A that seems to be damaged in transit (flashing red light). Is it possible to use the BDEmu on a DECH or DECR-1400 externally in order to check out the contents? If possible a dummy how-to would be great.

My DECR-1000A arrived in the same condition of yours. I tried all the reset procedures included in the manual with no joy. I think our units are dead and nothing to do with them as hard disks are codified. My unit seems in good condition so I don't think to be damaged in transport. May be was no tested befor post.

Maybe the BD emulator can be used with an USB case in a Debugging unit or DECR-1400.
I will try this week on my DECHJ.

Luckily I'm being sent a new DECR-1000A. From what I understand the BDEmu disks are interchangable (while the OS disk is not) so I can check it that way. No idea if the disk can be used with a Test or 1400 Tool but I don't think they would work out of the box by just plugging it in. Never hurts to try though I guess.

By the way, this is the instructions I got to try and fix it:

ok going to see if we can get a basic start up (No OS) from the start:

make sure PWR SW is set to off (rear of unit)

plug in HDMI cable then PWR cable ...switch on (rear)

return HDDs to their original status (swap them round if that's what's needed)

hold reset down (1 beep) release, then straight away

hold reset again (2 beeps) hold

now press PWR button and hold together with reset wait 1 beep ...wait for 2 beeps (the beeps are very close together, if you just get one beep you have to restart the whole procedure again)

    now release PWR button

now release the reset soon as a screen appears

do you have anything on screen at this point?

I did more tests today. No beeps with the reset button.

I also tried booth hard disks on an USB case and my DEHJ using the BD emulator. NO joy...
