I'm sure those things are fixable but I don't have the skill or equipment to even think of offering advice. Don't want to even think of what running wires might do to the signals being passed on those traces would do either.

Well I tried ... But honestly, the traces as as thick as two or three human hairs in parallel each...

And the screw at that place usually blow eight at once and at two places ...

So let's say I was able to make it work but it kept failing again because the solder weren't sticking well on such thin traces...

Damn I don't believe I missed that. tis a shame when people do stupid things like that. It's just common sense, remeber which screws went where, they're usually a particular length for a reason...

I have done quite a few repairs like that.

    Flux + leader solder + 30AWG wire.

Once its working, clear nail varnish to hold it all in place securely.

But problem is, dreamcasts are so cheap its not worth investing the time.

    Shame really.

Just returned here to see that first pic...which said it all. Shame I wasn't here sooner to tell you...told ya ;)
It is quite hard to fix, I gave up too after having opened up all of the tracings.

This happens when the cooling fan doesn't work or the controller ports board (where the cooling fan is connected) is damaged.

Just as a heads up, I finally gave an purpose for the board which I had laying here with the screw hole in it.

From it I removed the Yamaha ARM chip (sound engine) and SOUND SDRAM to repair the Dreamcast console I purchased originally in 2000 to play Phantasy Star Online...

It had a problem where it would boot fine but completely without sound. Some games would not boot (including Phantasy Star Online) and because that console had a lot of sentimental value for me, I had to fix it without replacing boards or large parts of it ...
