I don't remember the exact details, but iirc, I think the Xbox version was shown off last year-ish at Animex or something in the UK by part of the dev team (possibly at other festivals and some other occasions too where they show off Computer Technology in a video game context)

It was at least shown on a big screen to an audience in the form a video collage played in WMP.

Heres another copy of the video. Notice how the filename says 2006? So i doubt this video is of the xbox version of the game.

The video probably just says 2006 to show when they tossed it together.

Quick guess is that they were probably working on the game at some point during the Xbox' active time (or started initial development pre-360 specs reveal), then put it away as they worked on some other project (Godfather, maybe?) and then, instead of potentially suffering layoffs or the fate of having to make another license game -> Dug out something from the archives -> tossed together a demo video of what they had -> presented it to the higher ups -> Got it greenlighted -> Moved everything to current gen.

Wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened. That some old tech demo/concept/game gets the thumbs up after years of inactivity.

This is very probable. I had some DVT kits very recently that had beta's of Wheelman on them. Wheelman not seeing a release until 2009 I can only assume that the same happened there too.

It makes me wonder how long Deadspace was in development, don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure that they trademarked the title Deadspace in 99.
