I sound like one of those tv spots where Kevin butler, the fictitious Sony "CEO of ______" starts up, but this isn't funny playstation.

Lately ps3, you have some problems. More correctly I have problems with you and your behavior.

Recently some rather shall we say, "embarrassing" personal information about you was Leaked out online. It really wasn't all that important to absolutely everyone but those who could use it against you would have found a way to hurt you regardless of if it were leaked at all.

The problem exists though because since then, you have not been your normal self.

Yes we all know that you never were necessarily as easygoing and carefree as the other girl at school getting attention, xbox... But you were a far cheaper date to take out with friends, and you are the best date there is for a movie.

But lately your mood swings are starting to annoy, and even scare me! Ever since that info about you leaked online you have been playing damage control!

At first I understood the restraining order on those people. You had to protect your best interests... And then you said nothing at all. I suppose you were playing coy, and understand, I really do.

But then you started the updates. Suddenly it seems that every few weeks you now need to change on me. You get new phones, email addresses... These "updates" to yourself are maybe a way for you to ensure those Internet "bad guys" can't hurt you but it is causing some major strains on us now.

I have to wait 20-30 minutes just to play a game with you or watch a movie on netflix when you "change" on me. Xbox only has these dramas a few times a year! Then again she costs me more per month just to hang around her...

And then you announce that anyone who deals with those same "bad guys" will be forever stricken from transacting with you ever again! To make matters worse you cast that shadow around everyone, even making me feel like a common criminal.

So please ps3. Enough is enough.
Stop nagging me every few weeks that you are "changing" for your and my "safety" an live life a little. The bad guys? Yeah they're out there but you can't stop them every time.

It's tough for me to say this. We started our relationship only last October. I was even ready to break up with xboxlive and ask psn plus to move in.

But now I will just have to wait it out, and think a little.

    Sincerely,
    Steven in Las Vegas
(but you know me as sundancevegas)

    No love for Nintendo?

Their console was hacked and the end user experience went basically unchanged...

Wii and I broke up a long time ago.
I see her in the store sometimes but aside from some good old memories, we really have no reason to talk anymore since she insulted my shiny new HDTV all those ears ago.

Wii and I broke up about a year after I waited out all night to get her. Problem was I needed money and there wasn't jack for games coming out to make it worth my while.

Wii and I broke up about a year after I waited out all night to finally meet with her, and then realized we really had nothing in common, she and I didn't like the same sort of things. She was a little more juvenile than I would have liked, and was quite repetitive in what she wanted to do. How many COOKING SIMULATORS can a man stand?

Wii and I will never part ;)
Cooking simulators are not the only genre available for Wii!
And it can play Gamecube games. Shame for PS3 not to support PS1 and PS2 - they could have leave that, but NOPE -% a's a bluray player and nothing more than that.

Yeah, that's pretty much what she is to me these days. She also plays DVDs and PSX games pretty well, and that's pretty much it for the moment. No worries though, because the Ico and Shadow of Colossus collection is coming out soon (ish?) and Uncharted 3 is coming out later this year. I also might get Portal 2 for it since it comes with the PC version.

    Um wait. What?
My late 2010 model ps3 slim can play retail disc psx games?

If so what the heck. I saw re2 and spro just the other day.

And if you refer to psn downloads, that is not the same thing.

Lately my ps3 has been a great netflix box as well as blu-ray player. I also enjoy ps3 games.

Let's be honest, 2011 looks like a great ps3 year.

Yep, slims can play PSX discs, as can every other version of the PS3 as far as I'm aware. It upscales them pretty well, too.

    Well I'll be.
There are many original games that I missed out. My psx was more of a "ff vii adapter" than anything else.

Jeez. I have A LOT of catching up to do!

Region locks remain, however, and the emulation is far from perfect.

    Dear PlayStation,
I'm so sorry. The thing is, I really like you because of your great BluRay-support and free online gaming, but there's just something missing. I also have to admit that I've developed quite a crush on your mother, yeah even your grandmother. They are both so hot and I love to play every kinds of games with them.
Unlike you, they also allow me to try out the most obscure and weirdest games, something the Japanese were once known for in the first place. Thanks to your mother's backward compatibility I don't even have to change anything when I want some tighter retro style action with your grandmother. Sadly, this tolerant behavior towards the old hardware is something you've unlearnt over the time.

    goodbye forever,
    ave

PS: see ya at Thanksgiving, I'll carpool with your ol' folks! <3
