How would one write the English word "death" in katakana? Is it even possible? The Japanese don't really have an "eth" sound, as far I know. The closest I can think of would be desu デス (which doesn't work for obvious reasons) or maybe detsu デツ. Just a random idea/question.

Yes, it's デス. I know the obvious reason you're referring to is です, the "to be" verb, but written in Katakana it would mean death. Unless it ends a sentence, then it's obvious what it means :p

デス is commonly used to express the English word "death" in kana. Examples are Death Smiles (デススマイルズ), Death Crimson (デスクリムソン) or Death Throttle (デススロットル). Usually all the th-sounds are turned into either s's or z's. For instance, "the" always becomes "za" (ザ).

Almost like that shitty German accent hahaha

"plees giff me summ of zis beer ohver zere."

I was surprised that native speakers actually tend to like the German accent while I find it so awful myself hahah. But I'm improving, it's not as bad as it was 3 weeks ago.
