Example: when you add the stackable RCA device, it lowers the quality a bit, heres an example: IT DOES NOT WORK WITH N64 CONSOLES AND BELOW! I HAVEN'T TESTED ANYTHING OTHER THAN NINTENDO EQUIPMENT!
For older stuff I usually use a Dazzle (https://www.amazon.com/Avid-Technol...qid=1485568045&sr=8-8&keywords=dazzle+capture), because I tried one of those first and it doesn't work with a lot of stuff I use. Hadn't thought of a cable pass through, I was using a VCR for a while.
