Be sure to ask the seller to pad the box with the excrement of a rocking horse! ;)

Oh, I will, don't you worry. I'm deadset on having a full and sealed collection. I just picked up the Windows 95 version of Marathon 2 not long ago.

By NTSC, I assume you mean US, Japan and South Korea... as they're all NTSC?

Japan is NTSC/J, not just NTSC. Yes, I mean US games.

Actually, NTSC is a colour encoding system, nothing more. You shouldn't really use it as a description for the games ;)

    As a television engineer? Completely.

Many things get misnamed. Have you ever asked for a Coke and got a Pepsi?

Sometimes, it's the companies who do it - I think PAL/A on NES might have been Nintendo. It doesn't change the fact that PAL is a colour standard and a colour standard ONLY. They're just using the word as part of a (internal) code to tell themselves that it's from a region that uses PAL television sets but a region where they have certain lockouts for that console. Did they use PAL/A for Super Nintendo? Nintendo 64? GameCube? NO. Hence it was JUST a code for NES. It could have been anything - EUR/FR or 012 where 1 = PAL and 2 = France.

NTSC is a committee. They define the standard for transmitting colour information in several regions. You could argue that it's only a broadcast format and technically doesn't apply to games consoles at all, even ;) The NTSC-J is indeed the variant used in Japan, but the USA used NTSC-M. As did Chile, South Korea and several other countries. So even by that logic, NTSC does not mean USA.

Wow, a TV engineer? What kind of jobs does that get you exactly? Sounds interesting.
