I got a DECR-1000A a while back which supposedly doesn't always read discs (I haven't tested much but it seems to be working for me). I'm guessing this is probably a laser issue since I don't hear anything out of the ordinary that could be a mechanical failure. I have a spare KES-400AAA laser from an old fat PS3, does anyone know if that'll work before I commit to opening the thing? Also, on the BDEMU drive there's copies of Singstar Dev builds which I'd like to dump - Is downloading them through Target manager enough or is there something else I need to do?
For the BD drive, there may be two problems: the laser (easy to change) or the daughtercard (more serious because it is difficult to replace without having the original one and it is necessary to make a procedure to reassociate it which Is not obvious...) To know the problem, it's easy: your DECR must already be with an OFW (and not a CFW otherwise you will not have the right information). You go in the Debug Settings, then in "Blu-Ray disc access" and you watch if "BD DRIVE" is activated. If so, then your laser is dead. If BDEMU is chosen, select "BDDRIVE", and restart your DECR. Then, you check again: if the BDDRIVE option is left, then your laser is dead. If the option remains on BDEMU, then your daughtercard is dead. (You can also check this on TM: you have to boot the DECR in System Software mode by choosing the BDDRIVE in Boot parameters, and if in the Console output you see "BD DRIVE CONNECT ERROR", then your daughter card is dead)
I forgot : the DECR must be booted in BDDRIVE mode and not BDEMU (this mode disables the Blu-Ray drive), check the LED Front panel of your DECR when you turn on it !
It keeps the BD DRIVE mode, so I don't think it's the daughterboard. Do you know if the KES-400AAA is compatible?
Normally yes, inside DECR1000A, the whole drive is a KEM-400AAA, so the laser reference is KES-400AAA (KES = laser only, KEM = deck + laser) Open your bddrive, and check the sticker (like this pic), the KEM reference is writed on it
I second that. my DECR also only read disks when it wanted to, and if it worked it stopped reading after a few minutes, I had an old CECHA01 lying around and I swapped the laser system (I swapped exactly what is in @Pad17's picture) and it worked again, It can now read Blu-rays discs .and data DVD's
Awesome, thanks! I also have the same drive spare (well.. most of it) so I'll go ahead and replace the laser and hopefully that fixes it.
Bumping an old thread but does this look like a correct dump? I also tried replacing my DECR drive with one from a different kit but that one wouldn't take discs, probably broken . Mine hasn't acted up yet so I'm going to leave it as-is until it breaks.
Thanks for verifying! I'll upload them soon and post them (I think I saw a thread for dumps already?)
I don't know If you have found it but here's a link to this years thread. http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/the-2017-prototype-releases-thread.64919/
