so, my decr used to work fine, until a week ago. the last thing i remember doing was trying to turn the console off with the controller (because i accidentally turned it on) blind (without having my tv on) i tried but it wouldn't turn off, so i turned on the tv and it was just a black screen. turned off the console and turned it back on, and i got to the screen that says "Reference tool (DECR-1000 / Decr-1000a)" and what not. yes, i did power the console off and held the button until i heard 2 beeps to do the video refresh. still got to the same screen. i plugged in my controller connected it and pressed the ps button, and it went to the xmb? the Reference tool menu was still running in the background, i pressed enter on "quit game" it said "please wait" and then i get a black screen which stayed until i hold the power button to turn the console off, i went into the recovery menu, restore system settings does not fix the problem; black screen. restore file system does not work, i get a black screen when it attempts to restart. rebuild database causes black screen. Restore ps3 system causes a black screen as well. only one option left, i got the 3.55 update file and tried updating the system, it seems to work and it completes, but once its done i get a black screen once again when it restarts. the only way to get out of the black screen is to hold the button to power it off, whenever i restart i get to the same menu that says "Reference tool (DECR-1000 / Decr-1000a)". whenever i connect my controller and press the ps button it goes to the xmb, whenever i try opening something at requires me to close the current game it goes to a black screen, i have replaced the hard drive 2 times. sometimes after taking the hard drive out and putting it back in i get a blue screen which i can exit by holding the ps button on the controller which brings up a blank menu and then press the back button which bring up the "Reference tool (DECR-1000 / Decr-1000a)" menu again.. i would really like to fix my system, i can give you any information i may have missed just ask. i am able to reball or reflow whatever if it could fix the issue. thanks and sorry for the long story, i wanted to make sure i put as much info as i could remember. some more info, before all of this happened i had rebug lite cfw for decr installed after this started happening i logged into webman from my browser and it worked, i remember seeing that the ram was around 12k when it is usually around 150K. cpu and rsx temps seemed normal. i no longer have access to webman because i reinstalled the firmware on the console. but again, that didn't fix the issue. https://gyazo.com/7fa432ad1f17222ef37de95d3b0fa7f1 https://gyazo.com/0137c296fde5116eb940551d1a484692 https://gyazo.com/3126395b25d6b8d4f0f2477cffba7ed5 id appreciate any help and i can any info that i may have left out, just ask. thanks again!
On the machine is a tiny reset button. Press it once and it will reboot into xmb system software mode
ive tried that many times, i will again right now. update in a min well, i tried 2 things, pressing the reset button white it was on the devmenu and that caused a black screen. i never though of pressing the reset button while it was off then pressing the power button to turn it on. that actually fixed it... wow. thank you so much xD
Further reading: 1. Debugger mode 2. System software mode 3. Release mode 4. Target Manager 5. Web admin Otherwise, you and your DECR is not going to get along well.
thanks ill definitely read into that stuff. Im pretty sure i caused this by pressing the reset button a few times for no reason, but who knows maybe i messed up a setting while i was trying to turn it off blind. again thank you!
You are in debugger mode, change this to system software mode on the web panel or hold the power button until you hear another beep which will get you to the vsh. You can also use target manager to set the unit to system software mode. P.S. If you don't know how to operate a development tool, perhaps you shouldn't be owning one.
In my experience here's what I do Fully power it off (hit that switch in back) Turn it on, get greeted with Debugger mode Push the home button and power off with controller Power on with just a normal power button press Get to the XMB The only time I have ever had an issue was when it was still set to debugger mode in its settings to which I used the reset method to change it back and reboot. In the event things aren't well with the system further steps can be taken
thanks, i fixed the isue by pressing the reset button while the system was powered off (i honestly have no idea why it worked this time because im 100% certain ive done it before). also i did assume i accidentally entered debugger or another mode, i just wasnt shure how or if i could exit it, a little more research and id probably have found my answer it seems. i chose the decr because it was practially free and ive spend quite alot of hours researching into it. again thanks everyone for helping me solve the issue
Good work. But yeah it's really weird. If set to System Software mode, and it has just been powered on from the switch in back it will enter debugger mode first then it will boot to the xmb. I'm really not sure why this is it's just a bit odd
thanks again. also idk, but ive been trying to add my decr to Target Manager but i cant seem to get it to shiw up, maybe im missing something simple?, ive tried 4 youtube tutorials (they were not for decr consoles though, i cannot find one specifically for decr) and ive tried scaning while the ps3 was connected wireless, lan and devlan (connected directly to my pc and even connected to my router) but when i scan in target manager it doesnt find anything, i tried sharing my connection and bridging my connection. i have ps3 sdk 4.75 installed if thats helps with anything. also typing the ip that is displayed on the bottom right of the xmb (192.168.0.2) into my drowser doesnt do anything either. only ip that works on my computer browser is the one for webman. anyways, dont mean to bother but im thinking im missing something simple, possibly? Thanks!
You need 2 LAN cables to make a DECR fucntion properly. One in Dev LAN and one in the non-covered LAN port. From there add them accordingly. If it still gives you shit, start from a fully powered down system (the switch) with both LAN cables in, start it again. (This might be optional but hey adding it anyway) while on the debugger mode, note the IP listed. Connect to your system with a web browser of choice with that IP. It will ask for a login and enter the following user/pass: Administrator, Administrator. Once in close the browser then try adding it in target manager with the search feature (even if you know its IP or name). Once added it would be 192.168.x.x:8530 and ready to do whatever the hell you want (within reason)
Maybe a stupid question, but is your PC that you are using to connect to the DECR in the same IP subnet? Is the DECR set to DHCP on your network, or does it have a fixed IP? If you have the DECR connected directly to your PC by ethernet for example, this is how the config should look like roughly: *Note that your network interface (ethernet port) is now dedicated / connected only with the DECR and not your router, as I do not know your router subnet and it may cause an IP conflict otherwise. PC NIC: IP: 192.168.0.1 SM: 255.255.255.0 DECR DEVLAN: IP: 192.168.0.2 SM: 255.255.255.0 GW: 192.168.0.1 In target manager add an 1000A, connect by using 192.168.0.2 --- Alternatively, your DECR should be set to DHCP and connected to your router network. Your router will then provide an IP address automatically to your DECR, which allows you to connect to the given IP from your PC target manager. This is the solution if you also want to access the internet from the DECR, or you do not want to use the ethernet port dedicated for the DECR on your PC.
there we go, after pluging in the 2 cables and resetting up my internet connection i entered debugger mode and was able to add the target, thanks!
