I turned on my DECR-1000A yesterday after not using it for 2 days and after a few seconds of rebooting to the XMB it shut itself down with a blinking red light on the ON LED and a solid red light on the STATUS LED, I have tried every option in Recovery mode (except formatting the drive) and the problem persists, if I turn it on in recovery it stays on without problem but if I boot to debugger mode or XMB after a few seconds it shuts down.

It only shuts down if I install REBUG 4.81.1 DEH LITE, If I'm on OFW or 3.55/X.XX it is ok.

Any ideas what might be the culprit?

Edit: I got the name of the CFW wrong, the actual name is:

    Code:
Rebug 4.81.1 DECR LE – DECR ED

I think it would be the REBUG problem, you can try install a DECR version of REBUG on DECR console instead DEH version, and see if the problem solved.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

Which version of rebug are you talking about?

As far as I know there is only one version of rebug for DEH-based consoles and it's the one I mentioned.

My ps3 with rebug on it started doing this. It would just shut down. I chucked the console away.

It was a fat retail one.

You can try complete initalize (include format the drive) and install 4.81 OFW first then install REBUG.

Ok I got it fixed, it was the Communication Processor that was shutting down my system, I do not know why it only shut down on rebug but I had rooted it beforehand using the psdevwiki exploit to telnet to it.

What I did was: Hold down the SYSTEM INIT button at the same time as the ON BUTTON, it flashed the CP back to factory settings (0.3.1 Kernel & 0.8.8 Userland) I then updated it back to latest CP Firmware 1.3.3 and it fixed the shutting down, I'm still on rebug and I have had no additional problems.

Today the problem has come back, It appears that the CP wasn't the root of the issue.

The power supply seems to be failing, anyone know where I can get a replacement for: Nichihon ZSSR541iB?

I still don't know why this only happens with rebug.

Weirdly, it appears that the problem isn't the power supply either, I've tried the Restore option in XMB and that did the trick, It's been a week since I formatted the drive and the problems haven't returned, devwiki contains an entry on this kind of error:

    Code:
    XMB error msg

Failure after initial firmware stage. Suspects: Harddrive content: User specific files/settings in UFS2 partition.

I don't know what specifically is the problem with rebug, it might have to do something with it using a hybrid kernel for DEX XMB.
