Hello Assembler´s users As title say, I have a very bad problema with my DECR-1000a. When I received it and I started it on, is shows the screen xmb with lot of random pixels colors. After several attempts, I did a restore PS3 within recover menu. It was valid, and I thought that previously region was Europe and after the restauration, region is North America and thought there was the problem. After that I have been using de TOOL for programming my own Sega Saturn emulator. During that time I have been programming the main processors, I haven´t used the video signal as I have been debugging only with ProDG. Yesterday, I turn it on the TOOL with my TV for check some debug disc that I have and I have get again that image with lot of pixels… This time I have tried restore PS3… exchange HDD with HDD (DEV)… and lot of things without success. PS3 in the best of case shows the XMB with lot of pixels and normally it doesn´t show image or it freeze… PLEASE, does anyone know what could it happened? Or has anyone had this problem or similar? I paste captures of my TV… Thanks in advance people.
Sounds/looks like a failing RSX / bad video RAM. Either way, it's a hardware fault that is likely to only get worse and eventually fail.
I have disassembled the TOOL and look for something wrong but from human eye it is ok... Do you think that problem would be the RSX more likely than video RAM? Is RSX same as retail chip? I mean... in case that RSX was damaged I guess that I could replace by other one using a reballing technique... I am completly lost with this problem...
I guess pictures on the board will help. Could I ask if the thermal paste on the rsx chip it all dried up and cracked up?
