I have four of these special controllers that I got a while back. They have the exact same shape and weight of a Sixaxis. I've tried plugging them into a retail PS3, a test PS3 and the DECR-1000A tool and I can't get them to assign the controller number. The lights blink when pressing the PS button but it never "connects" if that means anything. The PS button itself will actually glow red when it's charging (like you use to see in those early pictures of the PS3) so that's something you don't see everyday. Are they suppose to work or is there some special use for these like early prototype usage?
Special, outdated and replaced. Nice collectible I suppose. Works with the old xbox hueg devkits if you have one.
Try pressing the small reset button on the back on the pad (it's the tiny hole) with a paperclip whilst it's plugged in via the USB. I rmemeber having to do that with my prototype controller and then it worked fine.
You probably need to update the controller's firmware, there is a tool dedicaced for this in a separate package of the PS3 sdk which is available on the sce devnet. The firmware for your controllers is probably too old and does not work with current ps3 firmwares.
Hmm I just plugged my two CBEH-1010 pad into my PS3 and both now fail to work, I have a feeling that the V3.xx firmware disabled them as they worked on the V2.xx machine last year...
CBEH-1010 are prototype controllers, those need their firmwares to be updated, you should look for the required software on the sce devnet.
