Hello all, My used copy of Resident Evil 2 for the Nintendo 64 has its fifteen slots for save game data full with saves. There is no way you can delete these saves from the cartridge, good work Capcom! Fortunately, you can clear the save data by dissembling the cartridge and removing the RF shield. Once the PCB is free you can short the battery terminals on the underside of the board. Re-assemble and and enjoy your fifteen free save slots!
You could overwrite the saves but there is something nice about a clean slate for playing all of the scenario combinations!
This is the same way all RE2 ports are. Usually you have to go into the system menu and use the memory card browser there to delete the files. As the N64 doesnt have a system menu, you have to just overwrite the saves with a new save. Some N64 games had a menu that came up if you held start on the controller while powering it up, that allowed you to erase saves and such, but as far as I recall Resident Evil 2 is not one of them.
Yeah, you can't. I know, it's pretty stupid. There are 15 save files, but once you have saved over one of the empty ones, it will have a save there forever. If you have the patience, you can play though the A and B scenario on Easy and then save the new round on any slot you want to delete, pratically making it a "new" file. Do this until all 15 slots (or at least those you don't use for serious playing) says "Scenario 1st / 00 Saves". You can alternate between ClairaA / LeonB and LeonA / ClaireB to get some variation. This should keep you busy for a while!
