Long story short , ive bought a pc from ebay and ive noticed that one capacitor is bulged and looks like its leaking however the pc seams to work just fine , i reported it to the seller and am awaiting a reply am i being overly sensitive or is this a big issue attached is a photo taken with a potato of the offending capacitor
its extremely common with those models. Extremely. I had one that had 7 blown caps that still worked. It shoiuld be replaced since over time it might eat awya at the traces. Replacing one through hole capacitor is very easy to do.
Yup, definitely replace it. All sorts of issues can crop up due to failed caps, and it looks like it's already leaked. I'd be replacing other caps of that brand too, if it's a computer you want to use.
as it turns out the seller hasnt responded , thinking about opening a case with ebay , i mean the computer does work but that cap is bothering me
still no reply , so requested it to be returned on ebay , got the label printout thingy do i just take it to the post office and send it back , or do i need to wait for the seller to contact ebay ?
>am i being overly sensitive or is this a big issue Definitely sensitive. The seller is probably some poor scared housewife who doesn't know computers from adam, and wouldn't have thought to make sure every last resistor and trace is fucking immaculate. It's doubtful there was malicious intent, so I would have just replaced the part instead of making a federal case out of it.
"Sorry I didn't know, send it back and I'll refund you" Sounds more reasonable than whatever nonsense you're drumming up.
in any computer i want every last resistor and trace to be fucking immaculate the seller being who they are sell alot of computers on the store so they should have known to check for defects like this just to note , still NO contact from the seller either from my 3 previous messages or the ebay case
What's a cheap source to order caps? Digikey shipping always kills it for me. Even something as-is would do; they drop your four or five caps in an envelope, put a stamp on it, and mail it out. The buyer assumes all liability. Does a service like that exist? (I know it's a longshot.)
Power conditioner isn't going to help you, that's not the main purpose of caps. Even if it did work, they will still leak and damage the board.
You're right of course. I didn't mean to sound like a bastard. Something came over me and I apologize for my tone.
