I need people who are in Japan and are better at Kanji than myself to help me.

I have a friend who is a Hikikomori. I am sure you all know the stigma of getting psychological help in Japan,
let alone taking meds for psychological issues.

I am trying to find a help group or doctor in the Tokyo area who can discretely treat a person who
is a Hikikomori and has severe anxiety issues.

Yeah the whole thing is kinda sad especially with so many western people online romanticizing the whole thing. I picked up the book Hikikomori: Adolescence Without End last year and it was very interesting to read about.

The Japanese Society of Certified Clinical Psychologists has a search function on their website to find clinics in Japan. You can tick "引きこもり" in the column on the right to narrow down your search.

Having a quick look prices for sessions seem to be around 10000 Yen. I don't know if there is any financial support through the public or private insurance associations.

For reference: clinical psychologist = 臨床心理士(りんしょうしんりし)

Cez is right. That's some good advice from him, just what I would have suggested.
I'm actually 500 miles from Tokyo so I'm not much use for finding stuff up there on a local level.
