I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question, please let me know where I can post this in the future.

I was trying to determine what a sealed 1989 Gameboy looks like, but was having trouble. I have a 1989 Gameboy that still has the official Nintendo box seals on both sides as shown in this picture:

However, in this ebay auction the box has some plastic wrapping around it, but does not have the official Nintendo box seals on either side:

To be honest, my first feeling was a suspicion of the seller, but a few additional thoughts came to my mind that I thought I should consider before passing judgment. One is that mine was purchased in 1994 and thus the different boxing techniques could have been used throughout the year to result in the lack of Nintendo seals. Additionally, perhaps out auctions represent different manufacturing locations and, thus, different boxing techniques.

Lastly, a few additional details about mine. Mine has a "Proof of Purchase" card on the back which my father took off and mailed when he purchased them. Thus, there is a chance that my box had plastic wrapping around it at one point.

Thank-you for taking the time to read and hopefully help me out with this problem. I hope to eBay the Gameboy later this month so am wanting to get my facts straight before I post it up. Also, I may get to price checked here on the forums depending on the outcome of this thread.

    Sincerely,
    Bluehaze

I'm pretty sure both are legit.

There is a chance the sticker one is an NOS unit, returned to Nintendo by a store, checked over, and then 'resealed' as a new item again.

Shrinkwrap FTW in cases like these, sadly I do think the sticker sealed GB will be worth less than a shrinkwrapped one.

Although I'd personally prefer the 'Pal' version with Red Nintendo pullstrip. Very hard to fake, whereas both the others aren't. (Yes, even that rear seam)
