my nephew has reverted my dev unit back to retail.(this is still being debated but it looks that way he swears he didn't.) :-( it was able to boot to retail dash by hitting the eject on the dvd rom. now it does not show anything. Remote recovery seems to be my only option as told to me by a pro. Latest recovery disks boot to black. avoiding .9 under good advice. I can see it in the neighborhood and its reachable through ip. The retail drive and dvd show up but no video. :banghead: Advice welcome
my office is fillled w rrod box's from friends he just thought it was one of them or an elite. This post intended to make me feel better i deserve it tho...i just have a need to learn and explore and f stuff up and refix them...he just got to it before i did.

1/2 a brick I can still copy files and there is not red ring \device\FlashFs\xbupdate.xex boot to that when i try to recover hdd:\xshell.xex when i use 360NH to "cold" boot. And if i hit the eject button it boots to device\flashFS\dash.xex contents of dvd are viewable as well as the contents of the Emulated retail hdd. no video in rgb , svid ,or composite or component. someone sugested that i may have updated the box improperly...with the improper version of recovery disk. Remote rec fruitless. thereby screwing my video. expensive noob mistake i imagine.
Either 1) Hope that a remote recovery can Flash it and fix that.. 2) Send it into Microsoft. 3) Use it as a paperweight..
re:1/2 a brick i like option #1 making it a reality may be tuff my dash is 1640 and i attempteded to recover with 9328 .This is prolly not good.what do u think my chances are for success still able to read and write to emu retail dash and i see dvd drive in 360nh...recovery instantly shuts box off due to it being too new. anyone recovered from this type of f up? Kinda like the rolling stones just waiting on a friend...:banghead:
Converting to retail simply changes the path of the default xex afaik but there has been a lot of failure reports of using this method. Try this when booting your console, make sure your video cable is set to tv and not HD. Hold A while booting the box if this doesn't fix your problem boot your xbox with the recovery disc (iso) in the tray and continue to tap A if you recieve no video this should reflash your console with fresh files I would not recomend remote recovery in your state atm. As long as Xam is intact a recovery such as 7xxx will boot fine.
thx i did the button A thing and no vid yet...hooked through composite vid cord into a cable modulator then into usb pc stick Analog( i think) boots old xbox video fine wehn tested.only other option is to get a 27" from neighbor 'Looks heavy'. will get that recovery and try it all mine are newer and 8xxx and 9xxx.0 did not work. on the hunt again. If a recovery takes i read somwhere the disk should eject. how long does it take? The fans are so loud i can't hear if anything is happening HD chatter or the dvd spinning.
It should take about 1 minute at most. It will then ask you to reboot but by the time the disc ejects you can manually reboot. It sounds like your video settings are borked do the following. Go into video settings and mess with that untill you find a working combination for your television, if that does not work boot Xshell.xex from your flash, if you do not have a flash option in neighborhood use xexmenu live container browse to flash and load xshell.xex from there manually. Once your video is back I can give you a file from my flash (dash.xbx) which should fix your problem. Check your video region from Xshell this is most likely your problem.
where do i adjust the vid settings? without a picture do i need the full sdk install with vb to do this? sorry for my nubery. this is my 1st go around with a dev unit if u couldn't tell.
when i hit that button my pc locks and restarts explorer u are refering to right click properties screncap button...is the flash option there also if i had a newer sdkit? 7xxxsd
Okay do this download alteration and use the XDK tools to screencap if that doesn't work idk wtf is up with your dev, I may have to look at it myself if worse comes to worse but I doubt it will come to that.
Has the problem been solved? If so please post what you did so other members may find a solution to a similar problem.
