Erm. No clue but when did it happen? Snk has had a few different studios build NG emus for them for a wide array of platforms (psp/360/ps3/ps2/wii). I find it crazy that they simply just gave out mame.

On the flip side quite a few companies have made the mistake of releasing emu compilations using downloaded roms.

I think I've heard of at least a couple of minor scandals where people have successfully proven that commercial console releases have contained MAME code. Can't remember the details, though.

Commercial venues using the "do as I say, not as I do" doctrine? SAY IT ISN'T SO!!!!!!!

I have no sympathy for companies who do this sort of thing knowing full well if they could (and probably would have given the money to hire some lawyers) sue MAME out of existance as well as other projects whose code has been stolen. MAME has everything spelled out very, very nicely in the source code so that you don't HAVE to steal it in order to make your own commercial product. They could very well use it as documentation and implement their own emulator but of course don't.

I'm curious if his usage of MAME violates any licensing agreements and I bet it does but I don't really feel like googling this tidbit. At the very least there better be a mention in the credits somewhere for the hard work done for him.

Not mame directly but it has happen a few times involving other emulators.

A sega emu (can't remember the platform) had src files to an open source emu on the disc.
