I'm trying to run developer WADs on a retail Wii, but something is going wrong with the resigning process. I've decrypted the WAD with the dev key and re-encrypted with the retail key. This allows the game to work fine in the Dolphin emulator, but so far I can't get it to install onto the Wii (4.2U). I've inserted the dump directly into a NAND backup and it does run successfully through SNEEK/UNEEK. However, if I try to backup the channel to SD card under UNEEK, it does not copy successfully (no channel does), and WAD Creator simply freezes (I haven't tried building SNEEK from scratch though). Depending on what I try, I get different installation errors: Original or resigned version: -4100 Resign after replacing certificate with one from WAD that does install OR Creating a WAD from data inserted into my NAND dump through Showmiiwads: -1027 Clearly, I'm doing something wrong since certain PC WAD tools can't read the files properly, while others can. Any ideas?
I used the DEV common key with ShowMiiWads to use it for DEV kinda wads like Menu uninstaller or Disccheck.
Here: the -4100 is caused due the dev-cert being 0xC00 (iirc) bytes, IOS reject any other size than 0xA00, so the solution is to just use the first 0xA00 bytes for the install.
Removing everything thats beyond 0xA00 in the .cert file? Didn't work for me, still getting the -4100. I found the cert in the wad file and removed everything beyond 0xA00. (of the cert, not the entire wad of course ) Or do I have to extract the whole wad, adjust the cert and pack the files back together to a wad? edit: Or is there more to it, like re-encrypting the whole wad? sorry, but I'm kinda new to the Wii-thing.. edit2: well I managed to fix the -4100 error and it seems to install but doesn't show up on the System Menu, I guess I have to re-encrypt it with the retail common key then? How can I do that?
hmm um which developer wad are you trying to get to run on the wii? i got the any menu changer by replacing the common key with the dev key on showmii the wads then installed it to my backed up naad and used sneek to run it
