...because I hate waiting for a game that long, I mean they are telling us that the release will be anytime soon, since 1- 1 1/2 years or so. I really enjoyed playing Diablo 1 and 2 but the waiting time killed Diablo 3 for me. Maybe its because they need to generate more cash with people playing WOW 24/7 and therefor they refuse to release Diablo 3, afraid that WOW players will jump off and play Diablo 3. But well, I guess they will loose a lot of Diablo players with that kind of "marketing strategies".
My hype glands burnt out a while ago. I will still enjoy the game once it drops - but I appear to have stopped drooling and with less interest in the hype my midday production levels have increased .
Haste makes waste. The second Diablo game took ages too. One delay after another. But the time was worth it. Awesome game. As long as this strange "real money auction house" will be taken out, everything will be alright.
It won't be taken out. The potential revenue is far too great. But there is nothing that makes you participate in it. I generally only plan to play the game with people I know so it won't be a problem.
Diablo 3 is finished. It will be like Chinese Democry an album from Guns'n'roses that took 10~ years to come out and when it did the time for it's music had already passed. So, when it's released it's already old. Diablo 3 compared to todays standards of graphics, think about crysis 2, is off the map. The only players D3 will get are hardcore fans and no new player. People will play D3 because they miss D2. I haven't played much D2 but I played a lot D1 and since I have this gap in the series I don't care for D3. Wait and see, Diablo 3 will be a fiasco, a game for nostalgic people only because it will have music the resembles the past music, story that resembles the old stories and graphics that are equal to old graphics.
The problem with D3 will be the wowification of the game. It will be solid hand holding all the way, with stupid shit in the game. Expect something stupid like pets or similar they can sell. Or card game bullshit. All blizzard games are best in the initial release, once an expansion is announced stop playing.
The real question is.... which will come first? The retail release of D3? or fully functional D3 Private Server?
It´s a Blizzard game, so having to wait a long time is to be expected. Remember how Starcraft Ghost was previewed and hyped for two years, got front covers, very positive feedback... and never was released? I for my part will wait even longter for a console version of Diablo 3.
