http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/co...vid-brevik-discusses-his-feelings-on-diablo-3 http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/diablo-3-developers-react-angrily-to-dave-brevik-interview I'll give a basic summary in case you're too lazy to read the articles. Someone asked David Brevik, the creator of the Diablo series, what his thoughts were on the Diablo 3. He went on to (politely) give his thoughts on some of the choices made for Diablo 3 and believed that the fans disappointment with the game shows how important the original team that developed Diablo 1 and 2 were to it's success. Some (not all) of the developers of Diablo 3 were not happy with this. Apparently they're perfectly fine with random people online calling their game shit, but god forbid the creator of the damn series express his disappointment with the direction they took in a mature and professional manner. I'm not even a huge fan of the Diablo series, but I can sympathize with the people who are. Fans waited over ten years to get a worthy sequel and ended up with Diablo 3. If it were one of my favorite series, especially one from my childhood, I'd be pissed off too. Lucky for me Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Castlevania, Turok, Banjo Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot, Fable, and Star Wars: KotOR don't have disappointing sequels that bastardized the previous games, right? (Hint: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K53lhTgfppw#t=00m36s) It's like having the creator of the Final Fantasy series give his thoughts on why most fans weren't happy with FFXIII, then having the developers of FFXIII bitch about it and talking shit about his work outside the series. Any fans of Diablo have thoughts on this?
I'm not a big fan of the Diablo series, but I can sympathize with the creator. I mean really, if you're continuing a series or doing a remake/reboot or whatever, you should feel nothing but respect for the original creator of that series. Otherwise, why the fuck are you making it? That's like if Tolkien had said something negative about the LotR movies (he died in 1973, but just hypothetically), and Peter Jackson was like, "Fuck you, Tolkien!" That would make no sense.
Exactly. He created the goddamn series. He wasn't even being an asshole about it either. The worst impression I got was that he felt the current dev team was inexperienced with making games like Diablo. Another example would be if Peter Molyneux was interviewed about Fable IV and he says he isn't a fan of the direction Lionhead took after he left. Then the people at Lionhead get butthurt and start lashing out against Molyneux, seeming unaware that they're insulting the guy that created the series in the first place. "Fuck that overhyping piece of shit!" "Isn't that the weirdo that made project Milo at E3? Loser!" "Ha, can't wait to see his next Fable clone sell like a bottle of farts!"
"He made Hellgate London" is a pretty good burn though. Maybe Chris Haga is pissed because he bought a lifetime subscription.
they're so stupid. Diablo and Diablo II was great solo games with a little online part for the players who loved play with everyone.Diablo III is an online game makes to satisfy the WoW customers with online connect 24/7 and a whole bunch of selling hotel with plenty of real money..Diablo III was created with $$$$ before the eyes.Diablo I&II was created with love and passion to deliver the best.Fuck Jay wilson lol
So lame. The developers of a high profile title complaining in facebook... I don't know what's worse, this fact or this age we're living...
