Better be careful with that kind of talk citizen. They are spying on us after all.

Where the hell does Cheney find time to go hunting? Shouldn't hiss ass be out there hunting terrorists instead of quail?

The problem is that terrorists actually shoot back.

I imagine this thread will be locked quickly. A POLITICIAN goes HUNTING.

Both have been known to create locked topics in the past and a combo of the two...I dont even wanna know.

By no way shape or form am I trying to start something. I'm just posting this because I thought it was funny after reading the article and how it all unfolded. Luckily his attorney friend isn't dead.

  6. Just what kind of incompetent idiot is Cheney, anyways? It's not like he was using a rifle where one could conceivably say, "Oh, I saw Bubba on that there side of the clearing and gone done mistook his camo for a deer" - no, it was a freaking SHOTGUN, a close-range weapon! Taking a spread to the head and chest, the guy should be lucky he's only hospitalized.

I'd think the vice-president of the USA would know enough about firearm safety to be aware of his hunting partners at all times and not rely on them to indicate their positions.

And why the hell would anyone print a photo of Cheney SNEERING like that for this kind of article? "I did it, see, he had it comin' an' I gave it to him, see?"
Of course, most of Cheney's photos look like that - the man appears to have some sort of genuine hatred for humanity or something.

Only in america could the freaking vice president shoot someone in the face... Does hallmark even make a get well card for that?

"Sorry i mistook you for a quail and shot you in the face."

And i voted for this bozo?

.From what I understand from the news reports is that the guy came up from behind without announcing himself. I'm not defending Cheney though since he should have identified his target before firing. Bad hunters safety on all sides it seems.

Have you ever used a real shotgun outside of an FPS GSL? Have you seen a real one and how damaging it is from certain ranges in person? They actually have QUITE a bit more range than what is despicted in almost every FPS game out there. The original Doom series depicted the shotgun's range the best.

His friend was almost a football field away from him where he shot him. At that distance, you can be pelted by shotgun pellets and only suffer minor injuries if they don't hit vital areas of the body and rupture arteries. Now if it was a hunting rifle then it was on purpose lol..

Thats also why you wear an orange vest while hunting with friends so that they don't mistake you for an animal.

if you wanted to make dumb jokes, you could have at least said something like how this isn't suprising coming from the VP of the Bush Gang, which is known for not being able to shoot straight.

    ..or something.

  13. As a matter of fact, yes I have. I come from a family where hunting is almost a way of life, and has been for several generations. Don't assume it's only the good ol' boys from Arkansas ever done laid hands on a gun before and everyone else gets their firearm 'experience' from video games.
My point, contrary to the "OMG IN COUNTERSTRIKE HED BE DED LOLZ!" you took it for, was if the guy was close enough to get pellets on most of the upper part of his body, then there's almost no excuse for Cheney not to have seen him, especially if they were all wearing blaze orange. When quail hunting, you're normally not in heavily wooded terrain or steep hills - you're in flatland, with lots of low-lying plants. If for some reason you are unable to see your hunting partners, vocally confirming your location is a trivial issue; quail and other game birds usually stay put until flushed by a dog or one of the hunting party.

The point I'm trying to make is that if Cheney was close enough to the victim to wound him with a shotgun, he was close enough to call out and ask for a location.

I'm curious and CNN doesn't say anything about it.

Do you go to jail if you do this and you're a regular citizen?

What's going to happen to the Vice President?

It was a simple accident. There has been worse hunting accidents tahtn this. The guy is lucky that he survived especially since he's 78 (of course since he's friends with the prez he gets the stuff we never heard of, so of course he is in stable condition ;)). But yeh, it happens. <sarcasm>Of course, you'll never see a democrate shoot someone accidentally on a hunting trip, they don't believe in guns</sarcasm>.

The press is grilling the white house because the administration reported this to them about 18hours later. It's ridiculous that they are like that.

However, if it was the president that was shot and he happen died. I still doubt CHeney would get any charges and its not like not he's going to be doing any more work than he already is ;). And it would go down in the books and be considered one of the most wierdest or funniest moments in American History.

Yeah Causal, I'm experienced with a shotgun. They are not toys, and really there is no excuse.

I guess this goes to show why old people shouldn't be running around in the woods with guns. I really don't have much sympathy for victims of hunting accidents beyond "That's horrible," becasue honestly I think they shouldn't be out there in the first place.
