Did CDs stumped the price of carts from decreasing fast enough?

Master Quest wasn't 512mbit, it's 256mbit plus it never existed as a commercial cartridge. But I do recall all the others being on that short list of 512mbit games. Ogre Battle 64 was the only other one not in your list I believe.

True but it appears on 512mbit lists because it is greater than 256mbit which means you need that V64JR 512mbit to play it as no other backup device I believe can play roms larger than 256mbit. 320mbit is still impressive.

 

I think you meant "Zelda Ocarina of Time Master Quest - Debug Version" which is 512mbit, although still it was never available as a cart.

A lot of flash chips I know are actually 5v tolerant. You *must* power them with 3.3v as they would break down with 5v but you can connect them directly to the 5v logic without any issues. Actually it's how most Neo Geo botleg cartridges are built, anyway.

 

Flash chips I have available locally don't tolerate 5V I/O... and absolute maximum rating on I/O pins in the datasheet is supply voltage + 0.6V (max is 4V supply) I'm not going to try out if the chip really works or not in MD, I'd lose a nice amount of money if it won't work...
