That's amazing! I really do think there's a BGC fan in the design team. I wonder what else has been based from anime... you know, like the "B Type armour" in FF7, that was a reference to Evangelion? Then there's that episode in Evangelion where Asuka is very depressed and playing a Sega Saturn in Hikari's house... I have no idea why I just thought of that, being that the Sega Saturn had already been released, I think. 94, was it? But this UMD thing is an awesome find. There's got to be lots of other futuristic references elsewhere.
Well, truthfully when you're designing something that's sturdy like a floppy yet has a disc inside for bigger storage, you don't have that much different ideas to work with if you wanna keep it compact nice find though.
They prolly did but there is no copyright symbol next to that so I guess the artists cant complain...
Haha, that's great. I just watched that again a few days ago and I can't believe I didn't notice that.
Wow, that really is something! ^_^ It's good to see that a classic like Bubblegum Crash influences designs to this day. As soon as I saw this, I started listening to Unexpected Journey.
Dont know about that but Disgaea II has "Cross beam explosions" in one of the vids. But Disgaea II also copied Power Rangers...well the Japanese superhero stereotype rangers anyway. Then again, Disgaea II is probably going to be humorous.
Yeah and Shinji is listening to a 20 year old cassete player all the time. Probably all emo "life is pain" songs all the time, too.
But Shinji's walkman is a DAT player, or something similar - the tracks are numbered and he's always playing a certain one (it's either 22 or 13, I can't recall, though).
It was "SDAT", either Stationary-head DAT (a format that never took off - normal DATs use rotary heads like with video tapes), or some totally made up "super DAT" or something. God knows why they thought people would still be using that crap in 2015...
