CEN64 is giving me a really hard time for some reason. Has anyone else ran into the problem that the installer just isn't opening up? This might be a stupid rookie mistake but I'm not really sure what's going on.
I can help you there, no worries. CEN needs the N64's BIOS file (pifdata.bin, google it if you haven't dumped your own). The perks of cycle-accuracy: needing all the original bits that went with the kit! CEN standalone also needs a user-created .bat to launch your roms, so it's easier to set up a frontend for CEN (like retroarch/hyperspin are to regular emulation) Dump your N64 BIOS or find it somewhere else. Get the stable .exe from here, I've tried the proper site and other builds but they all errored so grab this one: https://www.cen64.com/uploads/stable/cen64-windows-x86_64.exe Then, download CEN64-QT, a frontend that handles all the .cmd mumbo jumbo for you from here: https://github.com/dh4/cen64-qt/releases Put them both in the same folder alongside your N64 bios files, launch CEN-QT, open the settings and link it to both your CEN .exe, the N64's pifdata.bin, and save all your settings. You can also select a ROM path so it will detect roms much like Dolphin, but since you're only using it for these prototypes, it's not really necessary. Then, just click file, then OPEN ROM, and point to the DH64 roms and they'll start up nicely for you. If they don't launch, rename the file extention from .N64 to .Z64 I hope this is clear and concise enough for you fellows here to get it up and running so you can peek at a very interesting, fun look into what Die Hard on the 64 would have been. EDIT: You will also need OpenAL (OpenAL32.dll) if it still fails to run. Grab an install of OpenAL natively, or you can find the .dll itself on CEN's site in the downloads.
Thanks @loganmc10 , can confirm it works out of the box with mupen64plus. For me it has better performance than CEN64 with these roms, but it may vary between rigs.
Thank you for the upload, it's always nice to see new stuff I haven't heard about come around! Might even finally get me to buy an Everdrive... Maybe.
T That's so epic dude, Thanks for sharing the roms with us, Now i know what i going to play on my everdrive this weekend.
Uh, yeah. It's like night and day difference for me. Cen64 was stuttering and so choppy it was not playable. With mupen64plus it's butter smooth & the sound is perfect.
Hi, thank you for sharing. Project 64 works fine, all you need to do is edit the game settings (right click in the project 64 rom select screen), and modify the memory size to 8MB (for use of the expansion pack).
Don't worry buddy. With anything you can provide to the community we'll gladly receive it with open arms
Thanks a lot for this release, I will have to byte swap these (if needed) and load them up on my Dr V64 on real hardware.
