Hi Everyone, The other day, I noted that I had two Japanese Gameboy Shangahi cartridges with different labels on them. One is marked with the code "DMG-SHJ" from HAL Laboratory inc, and the other is marked "DMG-ZZJ-1" from Activision. Anyone have ideas what the differences are? I assume the DMG-ZZJ-1 variant is the more uncommon one?
Maybe the game got re-released? The Copyright on the HAL one is 1989, whereas the Activision one is 94-96.
That might be possible! When I check online dump databases, it seems both of these games have different checksums, so maybe the later game had some small bug fixes or modifications.
Not surprising since the game is licensed by Activision (see here). DMG-ZZJ-1 is definitely newer, the -1 says it all, but also the "R" after Game Boy, instead of "TM".
