Difference between NiGHTS into Dreams and Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams?

I found that the original NiGHTS into Dreams is smaller than the Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams. But the Christmas version was just a sampler and would lead you to believe it has less levels. Does anyone know of a reason as to why the game itself is larger, data wise?

 

It did have holiday themes, it wasn't just a stripped down version level wise.

Yeah but Christmas Nights only has one stage and the bonus items aren't anything data heavy such as video. There must be a reason why Christmas Nights has more data. The original Nights also has more video data than Christmas Nights.

 

They may have made the image bigger so that it would be less stress on the lens. I mean thats what some people do with dreamcast games.

Doubt this has anything to do with it, but perhaps we can attribute the Sonic the Hedgehog gameplay mode to the larger size of Christmas NiGHTS?

 

Christmas NiGHTS has all sorts of video data. I recall multiple videos of (regular) NiGHTS are on the disc.

 

Do you need the 3D controller to play this game? I see it comes bundled with it. Just wondering because I only have the regular controller.

 

No you don't, but you might want to pick up a 3d controller at some point or better yet a psx to saturn converter. With the psx to saturn converter Sonic R becomes playable.

 

Nights without the 3D pad is like Colin McRae with a keyboard - possible but pointless.

So, in other words, better not to pick one up?
