While reading the GD contents of a Dreamcast System Disc 2 and locating the main GD PVR file, what usually displays when you insert a Dreamcast GD into a retail DC in music mode, the disc wrote SYSTEM DISC 1.10.

Where there different versions of a Dreamcast System Disc 2?

Anyone with a Dreamcast System Disc 2, try powering up your Dreamcast, going to music mode, then insert your GD to see what picture loads up.

My System Disc 2 is 1.10 too. Probably all of them are 1.10, I'm not sure.

Maybe System Disc 1 was the Saturn one...

Dreamcast System Disc 2 is maybe just a marketing name for developpers ???!!!

I've been wondering, what are the differences in System Disc 2's that have text on the CD such as S-3260 or S-3656?

    That's the serial number. ;)

So the disc could be traced back to a particular dev if it were ever leaked. Typically smart people posting photos of their discs blank out the serial number.

    Update

    Thanks for all the help.

This might confirm that there are different versions of a Dreamcast System-Disc 2. Here's the back of one of ASSEMbler's System-Disc 2's. It reads HKT-0910.

Would anyone happen to have "older" System-Disc 2s, perhaps reading HKT-0900 and a different part number?

I only knew it as HKT-09 till I actually read the number which was located on the back.

I think System-Disc 2s are multi-region, but they need a console of the same region as the region coding that was burned on the HKT-06 GD-ROM disc.
