I noticed a lot of games I would like to play available on the PSN network, but I still refuse to buy them as I would like to own them so I can play and collect them. I mean it looks like you have something even if you have 5 games on the shelf as opposed to 100s of games on the hard drive. So have you embraced Digital distribution or do you prefer shiny plastic or silver things? Do include emulation games like SNES and Megadrive games on the Wii as well as PS1 and PCE games on the PS3, don't include downloadable demos.
As a collector I want a hard copy. But as a gamer and lazy bum I just want to play my games without standing up/swapping discs! so I love DD just for that. It doesn scare me that one day I might loose my games if my ps3 would break after sony decided to cease PSN.
I absolutely hate digital distribution. 1) They destroy the 2nd hand market 2) I want to have something on my shelf 3) When the servers are down in a few years, most will be lost
It's a pity that digital selling was not introduced yet, I would love to give or sell my DD impulse purchases to somebody that would play them  The only thing I can hope for as a lazy bum is that one day I can place ALL my games on a HDD and play them from there. This off course would mean the console gets or is hacked, and this is something I don't support due to many reasons that I don't need to point out here.. so I am divided.
Nine PS3 games sat on the shelf, 18 on the HDD. Edit: Make that 10 physical games, went and got Super IV today. But then again, Sonic 4 and the new Rocket Knight will be hitting PSN over the next couple of months too.
I have a few DD games on my 360 but that's only because they weren't released on physical formats. If AfterBurner Climax was released on a disc and even if it cost 1000 yen more I would have bought that over the DD version any day. I've said it a million times, DD is a step backwards. Physical media is always there for you to see and enjoy. You know it's safe even in 30 years time. Where will the download version of AfterBurner Climax be then? Still on servers run by a 3rd party? Highly unlikely. Yakumo
I don't like spending money on unpersonal files on some hard drive, so the answer is 1) I don't have any DD games. I believe while it's a chance to get to play games that otherwise wouldn't have seen the light of day because they were too *small* for regular distribution, I also have the same doubts about the whole thing as Yakumo. What's up with all that precious DLC in about 20 years? Will we still be able to play, let alone download it? You can still play the Atari 2600, even a Magnavox Odyssey from almost 40 years ago will work like on day one if it's in nice condition. I could never just buy games in the form of soulless files, real games deliver that haptic feeling that makes collecting so great, no collector is ever going to entirely give that up. At least I hope so ._:
