http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dingoo Has anyone used this? It's just another flash based media portable media player from China but I'm really looking into picking one up so I'm curious if anyone has used it here. I'm also curious about the firmware, there's 1.20 official and up to 1.03 custom, I have no idea which one has more features.
Thanks. I've seen that review and a few others on youtube. I know people on this forum tend to be more technologically adequate than a lot of youtube users though, the device has a flourishing homebrew scene and I was more curious on to that.
It seems the only thing the custom firm ware allows is customizable themes and better phrased English. You lose fm tuner ability and the latest fixes an "Y/B button glitch" that has plagued it since launch... I don't think I want a custom background that bad
You probably want the open source Linux firmware which runs most of the homebrew. But as I understand it, you can dual boot it.
well worth it in terms bang for buck. it takes mini sd cards so you can load it with every nes, snes, gba and megadrive ever released (it plays others). Nes plays fine, but snes has sound issues, haven't really tried any of the other emulators. feels a bit cheap but....i picked mine up for £50 off ebay...so it is cheap i guess.
I have one, it's a wonderful emulation device for the price. The newest official firmware fixes the Y/B issue, but I don't even use the official firmware (only for gba emulation) becuase I installed dingux. Now I have access to a much better snes and genesis emulator, and there's also a mame, pce, commodore 64 and even a final burn alpha port. Also for dingux, there are lot's of ports of excelent games, like Flashback, Another World, Doom, Duke3d, Rise of he Triads, etc.
I would say mainly down to the small size, it really is pocket sized. Probably also to some emulators and games abeing already pre-installed. It has pre-installed items right? I have a GP32 F-200 and I love it. I keep it in a case though and never have it loose in a pocket. I mainly play MegaDrive and SNES games on it.
yeah, it comes preinstalled with them. I like the aesthetics of it (i.e. HALF A NINTENDO DS AND SCALED A LITTLE MORE TO AN NES CONTROLLER) more than the GamePark. I used to want a GamePark though.
Well, mainly because it's cheaper. Besides, before the Wiz the GP2x used AA batteries, which drained almost immediately. The Wiz uses an internal lithium battery, but it's almost twice the price of the A320.
NECRO BUMP. I finally got around to ordering the Dingoo after reading about Dingux, the linux port. It has a ton more emulators available that work better than the ones included with it. So it looks pretty tempting. I recently lost my iPod and I misplaced my DS...so combining an MP3 player and game system into one seems pretty nice. (Waiting for the 3DS anyway so not going to buy a new DS)
Be sure to let us all know how it is when you finally get it  Some videos would be cool too. Yakumo
I was going to get one since it's so small, until I saw videos of Xmen vs Street Fighter (CPS2) running with severe slowdown. My PSP can already run that at full speed.
