I had one, it was the most awesome handheld i have ever owed, had to sell it due to cash shortage but will buy another one soon. It emulates just about everything you could want and there is a lot of homebrew available.

    Some useful links:

    http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/
    http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/dingoo.cgi

If you want one, get it from dealextreme or the like, much cheaper. I got it from Chinavision, took 7 days from China to Germany. Do not pay more than 90$!

There's actually an unofficial successor called the Gemei A330. It has more processing power and RAM. People seem to think that it's a worthy successor to the Dingoo, which is no slouch itself when it comes to emulation. They sell it for $65 at DealExtreme.

    Here it is in action

Problem with the new one is, there is no Linux for it yet. There are plans to do it, but it takes a lot of time...
    http://www.dingux.com/
Gemei, the compay behind Dingoo Digital, is not open enough unfortunately... An SDK is available, but not much when it comes to docs.
So for now, if you want homebrew, you need an old Dingoo.

To make matters worse, a bootleg compay called Dingoo Tech made bootleg Dingoos and even two "successors", the DT A330 and the new (weird looking) A380. both have more RAM than the A320 and are compatile to Dingux (which is good) as they have the same CPU, but build quality is not so good, also the neoGeo emulator doesnt fully work on those bootlegs (scaling issues).

    Real A320 vs bootleg A320:

    DT A380: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GKto_-RsyE

Cofusing i know, but thats how it goes in China...
And now well see even a russian Dingoo:

    Dingoo Power!

edit: My keyoard sucks, some keys (n, b, ALT, Ctrl etc...) dont work all of a sudden. Difficult typing.

nameless hero is correct. The best thing about the Dingoo A320 is that it got a lot of attention from some very talented coders. It got its own flavor of Linux that improved the emulation by a ton. Still, I think the Gemei is worth considering, if only for the cost and the potential it has. It's pretty inexpensive considering what's under the hood.

You can't go wrong with a genuine Dingoo A320 or a Gemei A330, in my opinion!

Indeed, the homebrew community is great, MAME and FBA in the pocket are sooo awesome!
Plus, developing for the A320 is a breeze, even i was able to port a musicdisk to it, and write my own small hello worlds. VERY good feeling i must say.
Miss it and i hate the fact i sold it... and the current owner likes it a lot too, so i wont get it back. Damn money.

Hmm that sucks. Wanna get rid of it? ;-)
The shoulder buttons use the same switches as e.g. the GPH Wiz, i´d think you could get replacment rather cheap, IF you can find them (and want to solder).

It depends on what you want. The A330EX is just a rebranded Gemei A330, with Dingoo Digital logo.
It has it´s advances: faster CPU, more RAM, better Shoulder buttons, multiplayer-gaming with two A330EXs, probably more.
But it´s not compatible to software made for the old A320, as it uses an ARM CPU, the A320 has a MIPS CPU. There is no Linux port yet for it, and it might take quite some time before that happens. The emulators are said to have some issues aswell, have a look at the GA330 forum @ dingoonity to get a good overview.
I´d get both if i had enough spare money. :033:

edit: If you want multiplayer, get the A330EX or a Gemei A330 for 98$, if you don´t need multiplayer, get an A330LE or a Gemei A330 for 68$.

Whoever decided to make such many versions, is insane.

They use the same Ingenic MIPS SoC as the Ben NanoNote

Not totally the same, the Ben uses a jz4720 and the Dingoo uses a jz4732. ^^
The difference is i think the jz4732 has some video codecs built-in, what explains the good video playing capabilities the Dingoo has and it can clock higher than the 4720.
Can´t wait to see devices with the new jz4770, 1 Ghz, DDR2 and OpenGL ES GPU. Rumour has it will be used in Android devices. Let´s hope someone will make a gaming handheld based on this and Linux (Ingenics have always made a Linux port with sources available for their SoCs!). :D
