I remember hearing somewhere that if i disable the hdd, and run a recovery it wont format it.

Its either yay or nay. I don't remember and if its true this will save me time.
Because removing the sidecar is a bitch!

    so yea...

    Look in documentation.

    Xbox 360 Launcher System Settings p.clsInfo {margin-bottom:0px;margin-top:2px} span.clsWarning {display:none} span.clsPreliminary {color:#C1C0C0} span.clsLink{color:blue;cursor:pointer;} Hard Drive

Specifies whether the console's hard drive is recognized. The following two options are available:
    • Enabled, which means that the hard drive is recognized and available for all functions. This is the default setting.
    • Disabled, which means that the hard drive's presence will be ignored. The launcher will not display any files on the hard drive, nor will Remote Recovery update the XDK samples.
So.. i think its a yay, but i will way for feedback.

It shouldn't touch the HardDrive ;o.

If you're on a newer kit, you can just use the IMU while recovering and you won't have to format the HDD, wether it's plugged in, enabled/disabled, or what not.
