Disabling SCART cable for GC auto widescreen

Hi,

I just got a SCART-cable for my Gamecube. The picture is f"n amazing on my flat screen Sony CRT but shows up letterboxed automatically. I can switch back to full screen with the remote but can you modify SCART cable so it does not make screen into letterbox?

This isn't Gamecube specific but applies to all scart connections.

The switching is controlled by sending different voltages through Pin 8. I remember people on Digital TV forums talking about removing this pin to prevent the switching. However I have not tried this first hand, so read into pin 8 a bit yourself before doing anything drastic.

 

Widescreen is often wrong anyway, you will stretch the picture and it wont look right =/

 

the sony tv i just got yesterday has an option in the menu under picture settings to switch between widescreen and 4:3

but if you open the scart cable and disconnect the pin to select widescreen that should work too. i think it's pin 8 which should be 12v
