    Hi all,

Just wondering if it is possible to make a folder from the contents of the iso from a recovery disc and then boot it from the HDD?

    Thanks

I've heard this can cause bricking. KEBOB was working on doing something along these lines last year but I haven't heard how his project was going. I think because during an iso recovery it wipes the hdd there is a point where the folder the iso is located also is wiped causing the recovery to freeze half through leaving the kit unable to boot properly resulting in a brick. If chanced, i would highly recommend using a lamprey or a nand-x and backup your nand first.....

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. I wonder why it has to wipe it? I assume he was working on a way for the recovery not to wipe the HDD?

His project involved altering remote recoveries to iso based. Not sure how much more altering he was doing but if he was successful in getting a remote over to disc, he may have figured that out since remotes have the option to wipe or not. Silly really that was never an option inherently with iso based from the beginning.

Could you do it from an external drive? Maybe it wont wipe the external drive, only the internal one.
