It's fun, and definately hasn't lost it's charm.

It also hasn't lost it's graphics either. Definately not pushing my PS3 and Sharp Aquos to it's limits heh.

Feels like I'm playing the PS1, but I'm a sucker for tactical RPGs. And Prinnys.

I think its ridiculous that its on the PS3. And that its on the same engine as every other game NIS has made, and the fact that its not even using high-rez sprites considering its on the PS3.

To be honest I think the Fire Emblem series is more strategic, the Disgaea games have really unbalanced hero classes that mop up the campaign and a super class thats only good for post game stuff. That and after the campaign it turns into grind city.

I love Fire Emblem as well. Path to Radiance on the hardest setting was one of my most enjoyable tactical rpg experiences EVER. I can't wait to play the DS remake coming out.

I was a bit surprised this wasn't a PS2 release. Obviously the system could've handled it and more people would've been able to buy it. It might've actually sold more copies on ps2. I mean, I still would've bought it.

I've heard it was Sony's idea and they forced NIS to do it, because they thought it would sell PS3s. It did, but for some people buying a new console for nearly the same game experience was too much. So far, I think in sales its kinda flopped, with the fans crying out that no ones "hardcore" enough to buy it. lol

I bet it will receive a PSP or PS2 port. Hell, this could be done on the PS1, and I'm not even kidding. Thats why it FEELS like a PS1 game, because it basically is one.

Personally, I think NIS needs to get with the times and try something else. They should experiment like what they did with Soul Nomad.

Funny story about Soul Nomad and IGN and Gamespot, too, I might add.

IGN and Gamespot gave Disgaea about the same scores, ever since then, Gamespot gave every single game they released a 7.5, except for Soul Nomad, which they rated higher. On the other hand, IGN rated each game lower than Disgaea, but went higher and higher with each game, then plummeted with Soul Nomad for being "Too different."

Wow Disgaea sells consoles? I didn't know it was THAT popular heh.

Yeah they could probably even put it on DS. Either way, I still enjoy the series, it's just definately a candidate if there was an award for:

    "Worst use of console hardware"

I don't think it sold that many consoles. It'd be lucky if it sold a few hundred, and even I doubt those numbers.

Did they overload it with anime cut scenes to fill up the Blu-Ray disc, or is there a lot of wasted space?

Heh, the only anime scene so far is the into. I'm a few chapters in so I bet I won't see another until the ending. There's probably quite a bit of free space on this disc heh.

Well for us Playstation jRPG players it's a big deal as it's the second PS3 jRPG we've ever had, and the first exclusive one.

We've had quite a bad time of it compared to the XBox jRPG players. :)

Got it here, will play it tonight and give a quick verdict.

Had a quick go. If Disgaea 1/2 were high res SNES games, this is a high res Saturn game, but if you're comfortable playing Saturn RPGs you'll be happy playing this.

Disgaea 3 is the second JRPG for the PS3? I feel sorry for PS3 fans then. Its such a niche game series...and its not really that different from its predecessors.

What is the first PS3 JRPG?

Ok so then hands down Disgaea is the best ported JRPG on the PS3.

If this is true, the PS3 is in SERIOUS TROUBLE.

Well Disgaea does have a small following for it's wacky strategy based spritey silliness, and White Knight Story and Valkyria Chronicles should be out by the end of the year.

The more I play Disgaea 3 the more I like it. I kinda wish they put it on the PSP though. I mean, they probably would've sold more copies and I love playing strategy RPGs on a handheld. Maybe they'll port it in the future.
