The drive in my dreamcast is yamaha.
There's laser activity, but no disk spining.
i've changed the gd-rom board with another board from a friend and it works.
is there any way to fix my gd-rom board?

Did your gd-rom work in you friend's console or did his gd-rom work in your console?

Hmm. Doesn't sound like an easy fix.

Check the motor wires aren't coming loose and try cleaning the socket contacts on your gd-rom board although I can't imagine much dirt getting in there in the first place.

It's most likely that something has burnt out and as it's surface mount components, it can be difficult finding/replacing faulty parts.

I'd go for a cheap dreamcast on ebay to avoid a major headache!

Do you know if it's a standard ic or a custom one?

If it's available and cheaper than a second-hand console, it might be worth replacing...

The BA chip only burns if the motors are bad.
And when such failure happens, sometimes it shorts the 12V line of the power supply, causing the console to just "blink" the power led when you turn it on.

Most times the defect mentioned by the OP happens it's cold solder joints on the GD-ROM drive board.

I belive it's the BA5986 chip, but i hopped there is something else burned. And yes, the led blinked a few times, but now it just stays on (no blinking anymore).
l_oliveira, what did you ment by: "Most times the defect mentioned by the OP happens it's cold solder joints on the GD-ROM drive board."?

Can i use BA5972FP instead of BA5986FM? The block diagrams and the pinout are the same. Here are the diferences:
    BA5986FM (dreamcast): 2 channel; limit 18V
    BA5972FP: 4 channel; limit 13.5v
