The full version of Nero 6 has a very nice DVD encoder, and lets you add emnu's and all sorts of things. Thats what I use.

    funny

Whats funny is my comp, which is only about 2 or 3 months old came with a full version of nero, but for some reason it did't come with nero vision express, it can burn and copy dvds, however the files for burn already have to be setup for dvd format. Is express vision by any chance free if you already have the full version of it?

By the sounds of it, you have the "bundled" version, which will burn disks and the like, but doesn't have the extra features like the DVD encoding. Its worth splashing out on a full copy, it has a lot of nice features all in the one package. I don't recommend any "1337 H4XxX0r3Z complete with crack" versions though, they are more trouble than they are worth.

Actually there are plenty of cracked version of the nero 6 ultra edition which contains the conversion program, a little hunting on say something like suprnova.org should get you started. :smt023

    very slow

Nero vision seems slow, is there any software that makes the proces much fater? The reason I ask is that nero takes awhile to encode the movie, and even then it came up with an error trying to encode. I'm thinking since other things were being run, such as the internet, it did that. So are there any other recomendations?

Oh common , like you have bought all your software in the shops don't give me the high and mighy speach, there is almost no person who has 100% legit software on his/hers pc.

And it's not like i gave him the software i merely suggested a place he could look for it, there is nothing illigal about that.

I think just for the sake of consistency (as the guy who offered to burn PA for people was warned by Tachikoma) we should refrain from such discussion... remember what the owner of the roarvgm domain said on the old board? I think it was something like 3 links away still counts as dangerous.

Use the fast motion search precision mpeg encoder in TMPEG for fast Mpeg-2 encoding. Burn the files to dvd and they should play in any decent set-top player. You won't get to make your own menus etc, but you will probably save a good few hours.

    seems to work fine

nero is a bit slow somewhat, but it runs smoothly as long as you leave the comp alone and dont do anything else, also setting priority at normal. Successfully burned viva la bam season 2 episodes 3-7.

Actually its the other way around, I want to convert divx clips to dvd format. Is there anything else that might work better? Because now almost every clip i throw at it is out of sync. Is there any program anyone can highly suggest? I hear dvd x maker is good?

Yes: for converting clips to mpeg2 (dvd format) use tmpeg. Then you can use Nero, as it won't have to convert them.

If you're interested in any kind of video editing you should register at Doom9's forum, it's absolutely huge and goes way beyond dvd-divx conversion.
