only downside is that u can't probably run Virtua Racing, which was a nice Genesis game unlike the Saturn version.

Can you still use Meag Drive games in it? I never had a 32X so I'm not sure if you can run Mega Drive carts through the 32X when it's connected to the Mega Drive.

nice. If I was any good with a soldering iron I'd try that mod myself. Do you remember my idea of cramming a Mega Cd and Mega Drive in to a Saturn Mark 1 case? That idea was going well until the missus thought the bits of PCB and open consoles were junk! You know what happened next! I was well pissed off that time. The mod was a long way from completion but who knows, it could have worked.

Err.... in the video he's playing Virtua Racing. What gives?

edit: there seem to be several versions of the game, one with built-in co-processor, and the 32x Deluxe?

The next step is getting it down to one power plug instead of two.

The one from the megadrive is using the SEGA SVP Chip and is not usable from a 32X.

Now all someone has to do is to build something that has a Mega Drive, a 32X and a Sega CD all in the one box.

Such a frankenbox (if appropriatly built/region modded/etc) would probobly be able to play all known Mega Drive/Genesis games (except the SVP version of virtua racing), all known 32X games, all known Sega CDs and all known 32X/CD combo games.

Plus, with the right adapter it should even be possible to play Master System/Game Gear games (IIRC such adapters existed for the Mega Drive)

Oh and it would be able to play audio CDs too I believe.

I know I'd buy something like that. They would can fit a DVD player inside (they're damn cheap) and an internal bios would control everything inside (it would even can load roms from a CD). It can't be expensive or hard to produce and if people buys famiclones into DVD players they'll surely buy something like this.

Yeah, and you could have a switch that first of all chose what region you wanted, and the second one could choose what system you would use. So I love the idea. When I think of it, you could use a dead KISS dvd player cabinet, it has the correct size.

The DP-1000 and DO-1500 has the lovely black colour. And there is already a hole for the CD tray part, the rest could be mixed. And well if somebody could hack the LED to work, then you could have some funky lightshow, and also there are some small lights inside of it. Ok enough of me babbling but who knows :) And somebody could figure out how to make a clone of the FM sound SMS part, and wasn´t there some midi in/output on one of Segas early consoles ?

No, that was actually the RGB out IIRC. Used the same connector, though.
