Dance/Techno stuff I'm trying to get into the whole techno/dance sort of thing. I found this guy's site (www.djkristoff.com) who puts full blown CDs on his site for free. I downloaded "Night Addix 4" and I really enjoy it. It's a nice change from death metal . Does anyone have any recommendations for other DJs (hopefully either free or easily available in America)? I figured some of you guys would know, as America isn't exactly a big techno/trance place. If it is, I haven't noticed it...
I remember that my mate from Chezch (sp?) was talking about a guy called DJ Bo Bo who was meant to be very popular in Germany. No odea how good he is though. I will probably see him this week so I'll see if he has any of his CDs. Yakumo
I really don't know much about online music scene but I think maybe a good place to start would be Propellerhead's Reason archive. If you're at all interested in composing your own music digitally, Reason is for you! From there you can sample hundreds if not thousands of users other works and maybe find your way to some underground communities which are always free. Sadly, Reason is not free but you must have your ways of obtaining things My school bought Reason 3 years back and it was worth every penny then, so it's probably even moreso now. It's very professional behind an easy to use exterior. http://www.propellerheads.se/
Dunno about free stuff. You should check out these techno DJs/producers - Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Dave Clarke, Juan Atkin(s), Mad Mike (Underground Resistance), Kenny Larkin, Carl Craig, Claud Young & Blake Baxter. These are all Detroit artists, where Techno started!
As I'm now officially old, and was into the techno scene for longer than most people are into anything, you're not going to get anything too amazing from someone's website. The best DJs good bootlegged, and occasionally put out a mix CD that might not suck ass. You need to pick a sub-genre (techno is full of them), find some good names in that sub-genre, start hunting around. Most of what I've found in torrents is complete shit as well. There are some good mix CDs out there, but the best stuff comes out on vinyl (only) and you're supposed to mix it. To put it in gamers terms, it's like getting the best joystick for your PS2. All the ones on the market are ass, so you have to buy one, rip it apart, and put good parts in. Just like any music though, there's tons of crap to wade through. Since becoming a DJ is relatively simple (hey - even I can DJ) and cheap, there's thousands of people self-promoting. Now that Ecstacy has become popular, even for admittedly good reasons, techno is becoming the pop music of the 0's. Crissybwoy: The techno that started in Detroit is Detroit House. If that's your thing cool, but that's very limiting. Most of the good stuff is found outside of the US. Jeff Mills is very Chicago, btw, although he's almost never there.
Since you like metal, you've probably got a good tolerance to noise, so I'd suggest you check out Aphex Twin, Autechre and Squarepusher, all class acts. Also Kid 606, Add n to (x), I-F... hmm... Computer Rockers you might like, Ceephax Acid Crew... Obviously none of these people are "free", except on the internet. Soulseek!
DJ BOBO oooh my he was a dance music artist in the 90´s damn i like him and his way of good dance music
He was in American pop culture back a loooong time ago, but was known as Bobo the Clown back then. This is of course before DJing.
I'm not looking to start making my own music, I just want something good to listen to . Thanks for your suggestions, though. I'll have to check out this "DJ Bo Bo" .
everybody move your feet to the rythm of this beat (old time and good dance and not trance although i like trance) you can still get him from different p2p networks
