S-NES collectors beware - this link contains some pics (not good quality, I'm afraid) of what company boys do to devkits per request of their developer agreements . Pity - NoComply tried his best to save this, but was unable to stop some guy totalling and disposing of it out of anybody's reach!!! :smt022 http://rpgd.emulationworld.com/fh/pages/se_requiem.html -- FH
Oh no :smt022 FH, how could you show us those shots :smt022 The brown nosed tosspot who destroyed hen needs his head whacked under a hammer. If only NoComply was brave enough to stop the blow of the hammer hitting that piece of gaming history by jumping in front of it. I sure hope they do go to heaven. I similar thing happened in my brothers ex-company. They had a shit load of Dreamcast Dev stuff which was dumped. Yakumo
I am more concerned about people who sit on stuff they don't have any love or usage for. There must be dozens of SMS devkits on this planet (I know at least 3) and I'm still looking for one In my ex company, they had 2 Katana box, a GD writer and some other stuff. They gave me one Katana box. And later when the office closed, they did not know what to do and left them in the office. They were destroyed.
Yep. That's the license agreement. When a local developer of mine stopped developing PSX games, they HAD to literally break the PCB, casing, etc, and dump it. So as long as the PCB itself isn't broken, then the devkit can be saved and all you have to do is climb into a dumbster. I did once, a year ago with my friend, behind EA Tiburon's building after their PSX license expired (which is why Madden 2004 PSX is the last football game for PSX, period) to see if we would find the PSX devkit and any other important papers. Its also a good way to steal someone's identity.
Aren't they violating a law though?? I mean isn't there a law stating that any electronic when the owner wants to get rid of it, they have to take it to a special recycling center since the PCB, etc contains lethal amounts of lead, etc. plus gold :-D
Actually that is true, it is requiered for people with electronic equiipment to recycle it such as pcs.
This is unacpetable trashing dev kits!! they should have been given a new home! :smt022 :smt022 :smt022
Yeah, its more for collectors anyway. Using a dev kit for dev is nearly impossible ^^ . And, for cartridge systems, its easier to use a notepad+compilator+emulator... Btw: Breaking a devkit is very common. I saw several laptop broken with hammer because there were used as devkit and with the amount of NDA/Licence/Security, its the more legal way to distroy them, then recylce them.
