Sometime back I ordered MGS TTS for gamecube and when I got it the foil on top was split and some of it was curled up. I thought it wouldn't work it but when I played it it worked. Why is this? I thought I remembered PS1 games stopped working if the foil on top was damaged. So I wonder why gamecube games stilll work.

What other systems don't need the foil on top?

I remember buying an NTSC US version of this game once and the foil had cracks and was peeling off. The disc played fine but I traded it in anyway.

Game Cube uses a customized version of the DVD format which has all its data in the center like regular DVDs do. Only CDs and Blu Rays have all their data right behind the label.
