i always wondered if there were people like this. personally i collect the best games for every system i own.
Not really, but a long time ago my uncle gave me I-War for the Atari Jaguar when I didn't even own the system. ^useless post I know
nO I really wanted to know!! @mark Well I owned lots of games without having a system set up on the TV to even test them, so that may count as not owning. Now though I own every system I have games for, except NGCD. But my only game for it is that crappy entertainment CD-ROM, so whatthehell.
I have the 3 Zelda for CDI and I don't have a CDI player :/ I think it's more frequent to have a console without games, I mean having a GBA with only GBx games, a DS with only GBA games.... You know system with retrocompatibility.
I had about 25 Sega Mark III games before i managed to get hold of a Japanese Master System to be able to play them on.. Infact I lost pataince trying to find a system at one point and got a friend to make me working western carts of Woody Pop and Alex kidd BMX Trial :110:
Well, I bought a PS1 game even though I didn't have a PS1 yet, and I played it on my friends PS1 all the time. I can't remember, but I THINK I bought those two Sega Saturn games that I own before I even had a Sega Saturn. What about buying PC games in advance of building your new PC? I did that with only a few games.
I tend to do that when I'm interested in a new system, I did that for the PC-FX bought a few games and then the system. Most of the time it's just a question of finding the right deal for the console and if I find games in the interim in shops then I buy them and wait patiently to get the console.
I have a couple AES games but no AES, also some Mark III games, GameGear, STV and HNG64 carts. I also bought a few years ago at a sale 4 GC pads and a memory card and 3 games and I didnt have a GC, last week a friend said he'd give me his old GC so I think it was worth buying all this stuff!
As some people might recall, I bought Halo 3: Legendary Edition long before I actually got a console to play it on!
Tekken 3 I had Bleem but needed the disc. The Game froze everytime I beat the game. Finally got to play it when I got my ps2 and it did not age well. I still have all my NES games even though I don't have my NES
well, i own some games for consoles i don't own. that's just accidently because they were too cheap to ignore them
When I start collecting games, I usually don't have the console to start with. I hate being the early adopter and getting unfinished hardware. My personal metric is to own five games before I get the console. I currently own four PSP games and no PSP. I bought a pair of Suikoden games and a handful of the launch RPGs before owning a PS2. I wouldn't even own an Xbox 360 now if it weren't a holiday gift, but I did have a pair of games ahead of time. The notable exception to this rule was the Dreamcast. I was up late at night for that launch, and was quite happy to get a first-release unit. Bought every game I could afford to, which turned out well given how hard it is to find the good ones on the second-hand market now.
i also got perfect dark zero years before i got a 360, but it was a free game. i also bought halo3 before i even had a 360.
I do from time time if they are cheap enough or rare enough With the intent that one day I may get the system itself
I still got sealed Japanese Xbox 360 games, one day I'll bother getting one. I also have games for the Fujitsu FM-7, NEC PC-6601 and Sharp X1 and I am sure I have other games on other systems too. :s
I got some PC-Engine CD Games but not the console as well as a few other titles. But just a few which I mostly got from friends or trades and could not resist
