For all Employees Who Work With Rude Customers
An award should go to the Virgin Airlines gate attendant in
    Sydney some
months ago for being smart and funny, while making her point, when
confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo.

A crowded Virgin flight was cancelled after Virgin's 767s had been withdrawn
from service. A single attendant was re-booking a long line of
inconvenienced travellers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the
desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on
this flight and it HAS to be FIRST CLASS".

The attendant replied, "I'm sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you,
but I've got to help these people first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work
    something out."

The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers
behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?"

Without hesitating, the attendant smiled and grabbed her public address
microphone: "May I have your attention please, may I have your attention
please," she began - her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We
have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can
help him find his identity, please come to Gate 14."

With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at
the Virgin attendant, gritted his teeth and said, "F... You!"

Without flinching, she smiled and said, ( I love this bit ).................

LMAO..that is indeed quite funny. However she dealt with it in a good manner. Instead of arguing with him which would lead to no avail, she instead made some humour of the event

It's too bad that people don't have manners, nor common sense these days

And it was definitely not "some months ago" if ever at all. I read this about 5 years ago. Probably made up, but still funny.

Sadly,i n real-life circumstances, this would cost her her job.

And it should cost her the job. I have been in exactly the same situation (with the people in line, not as the self-important idiot) and I see no humor in publically humiliating someone else. If this event even happened, she should have simply refused to deal with the customer unless he got back in line or have security deal with the customer.

Lol, yeah, heard that one before - very funny. I doubt it is more than a fabricated joke.

Indeed, you do get all sorts of rude and stupid customers.

Today I had a customer ask how much a particular piece of software (in the PC department) was. I replied £69. He then asked if he could pay £30 plus an Xbox 360 game. For some reason, he thinks we are going to give him £39 part exchange for a second hand Xbox 360 game. Our most expensive NEW game is £45. If this came in second hand, I guess we'd put it out for £39. So not only would we not give £39 for a game, but I know this guy and it is probably some old crappy game that has a £15 part exchange value!

I just told him we don't honour trades from the games department in the PC deparment. It was easiest!

I remember one time I went into Gamestop (Actually, it might have been Babbages at the time), some guy (probably around 17-20 or so) sat on the floor and threw a temper tantrum. He was older than I was at the time.

But there is nothing more annoying than the "do you know who I am" card.
