The thing I want to see is more LE consoles over here in America. We always get shafted in that respect. And no, that fugly ass Halo Xbox does not count.

    Fugly???

Why does the Halo XBOX not count? It's an LE console.

Some people are INSANE!!!! :smt042 Personally, I think the XBOX looks great.

If by "LE" you mean limited to 200k units, half of which were snapped up by eBay mongers, and simply a see-through green shell with Halo on it, then I have the Xbox for you!

To be fair, the Xbox looks excellent when modded, and the crystal Xbox is quite nice. Though I may be biased, as I have a crystal. :-D

Stock Xbox=blech. Too bulky for my tastes! Xboxone anybody? :smt043 :smt043 :smt043

What's the difference with the US controllers, excpet for the fact they got rid of the USEFUL colour-coding, which were also the same colours as the goddamn SNES/SFC logo which MADE ACTUAL SENSE? Back when I was a kid we never use to refer to the SNES buttons by the letters - it was just easier to say the colours because it was easier to see them.

There was too much purple on the NTSC SNES for my liking...

  6. US SNES pads had concave X and Y buttons. I really liked that. No idea why they made such a small change to the pads. Would have been nice if we'd had these pads in the UK, with the normal red, blue, green and yellow buttons.

    I agree.
The XBOX looks like a game console. It is what it sets out to be...a plain and simple gaming box. No handles, no tower stands, etc.
Personally, I think the PS2 is ugly with all its weird ridged lines and haphazard shape.

The PS2 reminds of 80's design - the BAD kind of 80's design. Like some sort of slimline designer Betamax VCR or something equally hideous.

When I see the Xbox, the first word that comes to mind is "American". Besides that fact, there's no reason why it's so goddamn big!

Open one up and look at how large the DVD drive and Hard Drive are in their respective caddies placed side-by-side. Those two pieces alone are rather large and due to the way the caddies provide venting /ducting for the rest of the system, there's little else you can do to reduce the size of the system aside from using a laptop parts in their place.

Wasn't it a rip off of something like the "Amstrad Falcon" which was identical except for having a floppy drive in place of the DVD drive?

Woah! Stealing ideas off Amstrad of all people - Sony have reached a new low.

Though I think the PS2 looks the nicest in its generation, bar the Panasonic Q.

Xbox looks like a fugly piece of crap, that's all. It takes up way too much room. Sure, the parts are huge, but I'm sure MS could shrink 'em down.

The PS2 I always thought looked like it belonged in my entertainment center. The GC on the other hand, looks like something made by Little Tykes. :smt043

And the Xbox...that doesn't fit in an entertainment center. :smt043 :smt043

Like SuperFunkNinjaYoshiiKun said, they're concave so X/Y have a different feel, hopefully so you don't have to actually look at your hand while playing :) Also, authentic US pads never stick, and rarely are broken. The D pads are made of a different plastic with a nicer texture and they have a more responsive soft-plastic pad to short the button/make a button press.

US SNESes didn't have the color logo thing so color buttons had no correlation, besides I never had any problems finding the Y button haha. This really isn't an issue unless you're incapable of remembering where your fingers go :)

Another advantage over SFC/PAL pads is the coord length, SFC coords are like 1.5ft, PAL I think are like 3ft. US pads are something like 5ft! They're simply better in all aspects. Had the US SNES design been released in Europe as well, you probably would enjoy it just the same. I was in love with the SFC until I actually got one a few years ago, after it's novelty became passe IMO, I can finally say, I like SNES (yes the original US model :) and SFC about equal.

It looks like a traditional console. How is it ugly? Oh, btw fugly is the stupidest word ever.

Sony copied a shitty design from a company that was past it's prime.... what I always wanted. I doubt the "little tykes" would be able to design anything that even closely resembles a Gamecube.

Your entertainment center must be tiny.

Did the European and Japanes snes/sfc controlles have that same problem as the first released U.S. ones where the either the L or R button would break?Did they also have the problem where the connector to the controll pad would come off and youd have to open the controller to put it back on?
I know the second sounds silly but when my brother got his snes when it first came out, one of his controlles would have that problem while the other had the L&R problem. Luckly the snes i got doesnt have problems with its controllers :)

funny that you mention it, I had to repair my US SNES pad lately because the hinge on the R button had broken...

come on, you'd have to be a retard or something if you couldn't find the buttons on a SNES pad without having them concaved. I think the Japanese and PAL pads where much nicer in looks and felt just fine. The Japanese ones do have a ridiculously short wire on them though. I always used the ASCII FT pad. That kicked arse !!
