I was thinking about buying a US PS3 some time in the near future and was wondering if I would need a credit card with a US billing address (similar to how the ITunes Music Store worked if you wanted to get music, before it became available in Australia). I figure you need a credit card to download content, PS1 games etc. I want a US PS3 because I want to have the option of buying US Blu-Ray movies if/when they really take off. Anyway, can someone who has a US PS3 let me know if there is a need for a US credit card (maybe it asks for an address, or doesn't let you select a country outside of US). Thanks, Cranga
I don't have a confirmed answer for you, but I know that iTunes will not work in places like Japan. They will block you based on your location. I think it has something to do with the laws for each country when downloading music. So you're using a bit of a unique example to make your assumptions. I have a Japanese XBOX 360 in Japan and I use my US credit card and address to pay for the LIVE service. That might be more of an apples to apples comparison.
It was the only example i could think of. When ITunes was only available in the US, anyone outside that country had to have a US based address for their credit card if they wanted to dl music. I just figured that the system with the PS3 would be similar because it is not available in Australia or other PAL territories. I want a US PS3 to be used in Australia with an Australian credit card. I hope i've cleared up what info i want. Thanks, CRanga
